The cold blood behind the warm tears

'Back up, give us 5 minutes to shoot!' This is said by a journalist from CCTV when she found an old man is under rescue and decided to visit this victim no matter what. Some people said this old man was dead at last.

Almost a week, the news from Wenchuan is on air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. At first, the news released on CCTV-1 and CCTV news channel give me a big shock. The open mind and the speed our government acted in this disaster really encouraged me. But when the miserable pictures of the victim are floating everywhere, I finally got that they are shoot them to entertainment us. The bleeding broken body, the dead children's face, the wailing parents, the media try their best to show the tragedy as best as they can. From CCTV-1, I watched a father was asked over and over about his feeling. He lost his son in this disaster. Finally, he cried, cried very hard. Then they shoot his face very closely, and the tear can be seen very clear on the screen. The screen turn to the face of the journalist, who was visiting him, also dropped some tears. The good visiting job was done, next sad news. The audience is satisfied, they cried after watching that, they give their sympathy to these victims, though they rarely think about others back in the real daily life. More important is that they had something to show in their next chatting time.

'Are you good?' the journalist asked. 'Yes,…', the victim said.

'They are having a fantastic life, they have everything, and the supply is ample….'

I don't know what the victim want to say after the word YES, but no matter what. Everything is fine.

A guy in my office is lived near Wenchuan. He went back home to take care of his family on May 13. He is lucky, his family is fine, but the house was destroyed. He come back to office yesterday and told me many things. All I can say is Chinese press is still the Chinese press. And all the others are still what they are.

'China flied up and become a strong country since 1998 flooding. We will become No.1 since 2008 earthquake!' another guy in my office told me. He didn't tell me any evidence to prove his words. 'You never want to go to USA, they want to come to China, but we won't let them come in!'
